Building a Repeatable Swing

Let's take a close look at how you can gain consistency
and control by building a repeatable golf swing.
The most common factor of the golf swing is the one-piece
takeaway.
To achieve a one-piece takeaway, you need to make sure that
your shoulders, arms, hands and the club all move away from
the ball together. Any loose or sudden movements can be
disastrous.
In this article we have mainly bullet pointed the key
features in their precise order for you to learn and apply
to building your own consistent golf swing.
So, we are now going to look at the correct procedure to
building that repeating swing:
*Keep clubhead parallel to the line of your feet for the
first 12 inches (30cm) of the takeaway.
*Transfer your weight from the left foot over to the right
foot.
*Retain the flex in the right knee.
*As you continue the backswing, hinge or cock your wrists
to set the club into the correct position. The body
continues to turn.
*Keep head at the same level as at address.
*Again keeping the right knee flexed.
*Turn body in harmony with the arms until shoulders have
turned 90 degrees from the address position.
*Lift left heel off of the ground only if necessary.
MEGA TIP:
Swinging in front of a large mirror or window can be very
helpful to checking your swingplane and your club position.
*At the top of the backswing, the shaft should be
horizontal to the ground and parallel to the target line.
Also maintain your spine angle and head position.
*Feel resistance in both right knee and right thigh.
*Your shoulders should have turned 90 degrees and your hips
45 degrees. Most of the body weight is now clearly on the
right foot.
*Start the downswing. Settle the weight smoothly back
towards the left side and start to unwind the upper body.
*Allow the right heel to come off the ground as the weight
shifts to the left side.
*Retain a 90 degree angle between the left wrist and the
shaft of the club for as long as possible.
*Feel the sensation of the left shoulder pulling away from
your chin.
Note:
All iron shots should be struck with a descending blow if
they are to make the ball fly consistently and accurately.
*Keep your head behind the ball at impact.
*Ensure that your hands are slightly ahead of the ball at
impact keeping your left wrist firm through the ball.
*Extend your arms fully at impact.
*Lifting the right heel off the ground at impact is a good
indication that your body weight is moving towards the
target. Your shoulders should also be open.
*In fact your hips, body and shoulders are slightly open at
impact. The body has to get out of the way of your arms to
create a consistent strike.
*Your hands and arms deliver the clubface squarely to the
back of the ball. The clubhead will make contact with the
ball first and then with the turf.
*Swing to a balanced finish. The follow through is still an
important part of the overall golf swing.
*Try to stay with the ball for as long as is comfortable
through impact.
*Collect your chin with your right shoulder from impact
through towards the target.
*Continue to unwind the hips and upper body through the
hitting zone.
*Maintain balance as club swings down and through impact.
*Crossing your right hand over your left indicates a good
release of the hands through impact.
MAKE SURE you maintain the perfect balance
*Maintaining your balance is critical throughout the swing.
*Your swing should finish with the spine straight and your
right shoulder over the left foot.
*Any swaying or stumbling off balance is a sign that
something is wrong in your swing.
Remember: DO NOT SWING TOO HARD OR FAST - STAY BALANCED
*The right foot should now be on the toe.
*The body is now in perfect balance at the finish.
By studying this procedure and learning it fully, along
with a lot of practise on the driving range and on the golf
course, you will begin to build yourself a very strong,
consistent and above all a repeatable golf swing.
Let us know how you get on.
